Romantic Indoor Garden Wedding at the Chicago Cultural Center

Historic architecture meets lush garden vibes: that’s the most succinct way to describe Kendall and Dwayne’s wedding at the Chicago Cultural Center, but this day was so much more than that. It was a legacy-defining celebration and a love letter to the city, a transcendent sensory experience and a reminder that sharing joy and love really is what it’s all about. We had the pleasure of planning it and getting to know Kendall and Dwayne, who approached every decision with such intention. As full-service clients, they received guidance from our team every step of the way, and we couldn’t be more grateful for the trust they placed in us.

Planning a Chicago Cultural Center Wedding

Kendall and Dwayne came to us with a clear vision of their wedding day. They pictured an indoor garden wedding at the Chicago Cultural Center, complete with abundant florals and vivid pops of color. Although they had visited several venues, their hearts were set on the Cultural Center. They simply couldn’t picture their celebration anywhere else! We helped them align their budget with their vision, ensuring that a wedding at the iconic Chicago landmark wouldn’t just be attainable, but an epic celebration of their love.

This is why we recommend that all our full-service couples book us before booking a wedding venue. We can ensure that your budget doesn’t present an obstacle to realizing your vision at your dream venue. There’s nothing worse than an astronomical bill showing up two weeks before your wedding because of accidental overspending (except taking the last bite of your taco).

Bold & Story-Driven Wedding Details

Working with Yanni Design Studio, we set out to transform the Chicago Cultural Center into a romantic indoor garden oasis. For the ceremony, held in Preston Bradley Hall, we lined either side of the aisle with vibrant floral arrangements and tall taper candles. The design culminated in a gorgeous altar, composed of white pillars and golden pedestals crowned with hot pink, orange, and peach blooms.

The lush florals carried into the reception, where they coordinated beautifully with the soft pink table linens. Accents of gold, from the Chiavari chairs and tablescape details, elevated the design, reflecting the excellence that has always been part of Kendall and Dwayne’s stories, both separately and together. But our favorite detail was the dance floor: bordered in glass mosaic tiles, it was both an expression of the couple’s bold personalities and a nod to the Tiffany dome in the ceremony space.

An Unforgettable Experience in Downtown Chicago

Kendall and Dwayne didn’t just want an impeccably styled wedding day. They also wanted to create an unforgettable experience for their guests, centered on excellent food (our kind of people). During cocktail hour, guests mingled among interactive carts serving soul food: shrimp and grits, chicken and waffles with maple syrup pipettes, and halal empanadas.

Then, at the reception, Entertaining Company served a delicious plated dinner planned by Kendall’s dad. A consummate host, he also made a speech before the meal that was among the best we’ve ever heard! It was the undisputed highlight of the evening, centered on family legacy and the kind of love that spans generations.

Wow, wow, and wow—we don’t think we’ll stop thinking about this wedding any time soon! From the majestic surroundings of the Chicago Cultural Center to the smiles on Kendall and Dwayne’s faces all day long, it was the kind of celebration we dream about.
